Towards Strategy for the Prosecution of War Crimes in Serbia – Session on the Possibility of the Application of the Doctrine of Command Responsibility and Crimes Against Humanity For Crimes Committed in the 1990s

post_instituta_komandaThe fourth consultation session for the production of the Draft Strategy for the Prosecution of War Crimes in Serbia was held Monday November 17th, 2014, in the Library of the Humanitarian Law Center. The meeting was dedicated to the possibilities of applying command responsibility and crimes against humanity committed during the 1990s.

Judges acting in cases of war crimes and representatives of the Republic of Serbia Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor (OWCP), the Osjek District General Attorney’s Office, the Judicial Academy, attorneys acting in cases of war crimes, the OSCE Mission to Serbia, legal experts and representatives of injured parties in cases of war crimes attended this meeting.

The participants discussed the legal modalities and the conditions for the application of the doctrine of command responsibility and crimes against humanity in cases of war crimes in Serbia.

The recommendations by participants in this meeting will be embodied in the Draft Strategy For the Prosecution of War Crimes in Serbia in the Period 2015-2025, which will be handed over to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia by the end of 2014.
