Human Rights Activists from Burma Visit HLC

A group of attorneys and human rights activists from Burma visited the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013. They are currently on a study visit to Belgrade organized by Civil Rights Defenders, during which they will visit a number of non-governmental organizations dealing with human rights and obtain information about the process of Transitional Justice in Serbia and the region.

Representatives of the HLC talked to the visitors about the process of Transitional Justice, the issues which society in Serbia faces in the process of dealing with the past, and the work of the HLC . They discussed the contribution of the HLC to the process of reconciliation in the countries on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, war crimes trials, the representation of victims in compensation lawsuits, and the right of victims to reparation. Besides this, the HLC representatives presented the HLC’s database on human losses and the RECOM process to the visitors.
