HLC Press Statement In Relation to the (First Instance) Verdict of Defendant Aleksandar Medić

The War Crimes Chamber rendered a judgment on 28 January 2009 in the retrial of Aleksandar Medić for abetting the commission of criminal act of war crime against civilian population pursuant to Article 142 Section 1 in relation to Article 24 of the Criminal Code of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. This criminal act was committed in July 1995 in Godinjske bare, a place located in the vicinity of Trnovo on the Treskavica Mountain.

Non-governmental Organizations Call upon Serbian Parliament to Declare 11 July a Day of Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide

Human rights organizations call upon the Parliament of Serbia to support the European Parliament Resolution on declaring 11 July a day of commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide and thereby show respect for, and acknowledge, the victims of the most serious crime of all crimes and initiate a process of a joint effort to build memory, which would include all victims of war crimes committed on the territory of the former Yugoslavia.
