HLC Criminal Complaint against Božidar Delić in the Media in Serbia and Kosovo

On 8 May 2008, HLC filed a criminal complaint against Božidar Delić, a retired major-general, and 10 other persons, mostly members of the 549th motorized brigade of the Yugoslav Army and a number of members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, for their role in the murder of several dozens of Kosovo Albanians (42 victims have been identified so far) on March 25, 1999 in the village of Trnje/Ternje in the Suva Reka municipality of Kosovo.

Serbian Ministry of Interior’s Search for Hague Tribunal’s Protected Witness

The family of protected witness VS-033 in the Vojislav Šešelj case contacted the Humanitarian Law Center because members of the Serbian Ministry of Interior entered two of his apartments in Belgrade on 16 April 2008 without a search warrant or a decision for undertaking any other police activity.

Kosovo Government should establish rail service on Kosovo Polje-Lešak-Kosovo Polje line

The Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) and HLC-Kosovo strongly urge the Kosovo Government to establish rail services on the Kosovo Polje – Lešak line and enable the citizens of Kosovo, especially Serbs, to travel freely and cheaply and to conduct their business as they did prior to the attempt of the Republic of Serbia to assume control of the administration of rail services on this line.

Human Rights Defenders at risk

The United Nations Declaration on the Right and Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, adopted by consensus by the UN General Assembly on 9 December 1998, recognises the legitimacy of the activities of human rights defenders, their right to freedom of association and to carry out their activities without fear of reprisals.

Bulletin: Meeting on the Future of the Hague Tribunal archive

On March 21, 2008, HLC convened a meeting of human rights NGOs, journalists, historians, the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, a representative of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia war crime investigation unit, judges, the ICTY Liaison Officer to Serbia to discuss the future of the Hague Tribunal archive in the context of war crime trials, building historical memory, establishing the facts about the recent past and the need for the documentation of the Hague Tribunal archive to be accessible to experts and the general public.
