Serbian Supreme Court (SSC) dismissed on 19 July 2006 the state’s demand that the First Municipal Court in Belgrade repeats the procedure concerning the charges filed by the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) during the year of 1998, on behalf of seven forcibly mobilized refugees from Croatia.
The Serbian Supreme Court verified on 18 May 2006 the verdict handed down by the Belgrade District Court, by which four members of the “Osvetnici” (Avengers) armed group within the Republic of Srpska Army were convicted to imprisonment because of the kidnapping and murder of 16 Bosniaks from the village of Sjeverin, which took place in the place called Mioče, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in October 1992. Milan Lukić, Dragutin Dragičević, Oliver Krsmanović, and Đorđe Šević were convicted for this crime.
The Humanitarian Law Center is strongly criticizing the act in which the house of Mirko Đorđević, a Religion Sociologist, was stoned. This happened in the night from 16 to 17 May. The HLC is also calling upon the Serbian Ministry of Interior to undertake all measures necessary to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice as soon as possible.

The Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) is strongly supporting the state authorities’ involvement in repairing the consequences of the recent natural disasters and providing support for the endangered citizens in these areas. At the same time, the HLC would like these institutions, the Republic of Serbia Government in particular, to express the same level of solidarity with the Bosniak citizens of Serbia, who live at the territory of the Priboj Municipality. In late 1992 and early 1993 they were victims of persecution carried out by the then Yugoslav Army (VJ), and because of this, they are still forced to live away from their homes.
