#IzSudnice - Sajt  - 4On May 28, 2010 Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) filed a compensation lawsuit with the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia against 34 individuals on charges of their personal responsibility for the murder of 90 and the wounding of over 150 Albanian prisoners in the KPZ Dubrava penitentiary, near Istok in Kosovo (hereinafter referred to as: KPZ Dubrava).

State and international institutions are not interested in the reparation process

Belgrade, July 1, 2010 – Members of Parliament Kenan Hajdarević, Bajram Šehović, Esad Džudžević, Munir Poturak, and Šerif Hamzagić attended today’s session of the compensation lawsuit filed by the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) and conducted before the Belgrade High Court on behalf of the residents of the Kukurovići village (Priboj municipality) against the Republic of Serbia.

Albin Kurti found guilty for organizing a protest in Priština in February 2007

A mixed Trial Chamber of the District Court in Priština, presided by the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) appointed Justice Ferdinando Boatier de Mongeot, handed down a sentence on June 14, 2010 sentencing Albin Kurti, leader of the Samopredeljenje/Vetëvendosje movement to nine (9) months in prison for a criminal act of being a member of a group obstructing a law enforcement officer, Article 318, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Provisional Criminal Code of Kosovo. The accused Albin Kurti was immediately released from detention due to the fact that he had spent eleven (11) months in prison and in house-arrest in the course of 2007 and at the beginning of 2008, which is more than the prison sentence determined by the Trial Chamber.

First Municipal Court’s Decision: Republic of Serbia ordered to pay RSD 160.000 for torture of Bosniaks in Prijedor in 1993

The Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) believes that the First Municipal Court’s Decision ordering Republic of Serbia (RS) to pay RSD 160.000 to Sead Rovčanin for torture suffered in 1993 is an insult and does not constitute proper satisfaction for the ordeal Rovčanin was subjected to.

The Supreme Court of Kosovo doubled the sentence for Predrag Đorđević, a member of the Car Lazar Guard

A mixed panel of the Supreme Court of Kosovo presided over by Justice Norbert Koster , rendered a decision on May 4, 2010 pronouncing the accused Predrag Đorđević guilty and sentenced him to twelve (12) years and three (3) months in prison for the commission of the criminal acts of instigating national, racial, religious, or ethnic hatred, strife, or intolerance and attempted aggravated murder.
