In memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, civil society organizations, foundations, artists, and cultural workers are once again marking 11 July under the slogan People Remember People. Through a series of events taking place in Belgrade and Novi Sad from 9 to 11 July, we invite citizens to honor the dignity of the genocide victims, preserve and share facts and knowledge about them, and, above all, keep alive the memory of the names and lives of the 8,372 people who have been gone.
9 July, 5:00 p.m. – Book Presentation and Discussion: RESOLUTION 808 – Inside the Yugoslavia Tribunal, Europe House, Belgrade
The Humanitarian Law Center is organizing the presentation of the publication RESOLUTION 808 – Inside the Yugoslavia Tribunal by Jorie Horsthuis and Martino Lombezzi. In addition to presenting the book, the event will explore the legacy of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), its contribution to establishing the facts about war crimes, and the challenges facing international justice today.

10 July, 7:30 p.m. – Silent Vigil: We Will Never Forget the Srebrenica Genocide, Republic Square, Belgrade
Women in Black will organize their traditional silent vigil, during which the performance We Will Never Forget the Srebrenica Genocide will be staged with the support of the Škart artistic collective and civil society organizations. Through this action, Women in Black call on state institutions to recognize the Srebrenica genocide, end the policy of genocide denial, and take concrete steps toward building a culture of remembrance, accountability, and respect for the victims.
11 July, 11:00 a.m. – Memorial: People Remember People, Plateau by the staircase beneath Branko’s Bridge, Belgrade
The KROKODIL Association is organizing a memorial event marking the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. Large canvases bearing the message “People Remember People” and the number 8,372 will be displayed, followed by addresses from activist Dalia Koler and historian Ger Duijzings.

11 July, 8:00 p.m. – Commemoration of the Victims of the Srebrenica Genocide, Republic Square, Belgrade
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights is organizing a commemorative gathering in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide. The event will be held in silence, with citizens paying tribute to the victims by lighting candles and laying flowers.

CK13, together with partner collectives, is organizing a silent public gathering in the center of Novi Sad to commemorate the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
Postcard Campaign Addressed to the Institutions of the Republic of Serbia on the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica
The People Remember People Coalition is organizing a postcard campaign addressed to representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Serbia. Through this initiative, the Coalition calls on state institutions to support the observance of 11 July as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica and to actively contribute to fostering a fact-based culture of remembrance.
