Invitation to the Event RESOLUTION 808 – Inside the Yugoslavia Tribunal

The Humanitarian Law Center invites you to the presentation of the publication RESOLUTION 808 – Inside the Yugoslavia Tribunal by Jorie Horsthuis and Martino Lombezzi, which will take place on 9 July 2026 at 5:00 pm at Europe House (corner of Knez Mihailova and Zmaj Jovina streets, Belgrade).

Resolution 808 combines Jorie Horsthuis’ journalistic work with Martino Lombezzi’s photography. Through exclusive interviews, portraits, photographs of closed areas, archival materials and artefacts from the archives of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), as well as images from present-day Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo, the authors encourage reflection on the legacy of the first international tribunal established after Nuremberg. The publication offers insight into the institution where war criminals such as Milošević, Karadžić and Mladić were prosecuted, while also raising questions about the achievements of international criminal justice, its limitations, and possible alternatives to ad hoc tribunals.

In addition to presenting the publication, the event will explore the legacy of the ICTY and its contribution to processes of dealing with the past and accepting established facts about the wars of the 1990s within Serbian society, as well as the reach and perception of international justice today in light of current global developments.

The discussion will feature:

  • Jorie Horsthuis, co-author of the publication and journalist;
  • Martino Lombezzi, co-author of the publication and photographer;
  • Srđan Milošević, historian and lawyer.

The discussion will be moderated by Jasmina Lazović, Executive Director of the Humanitarian Law Center.

The event is organized within the framework of the People Remember People programme, through which civil society organizations, foundations, artists and cultural practitioners are marking this year’s anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. Throughout the first half of July, a series of events in Belgrade and Novi Sad will commemorate the anniversary, calling for respect for the dignity of the victims, the preservation and dissemination of facts and knowledge about their suffering, and the safeguarding of the memory of the 8,372 people whose lives were taken.

Resolution 808 is a project supported by Strategia Fotografia 2025, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of culture.

The event will be held in Serbian and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided.

Participation is possible only upon prior registration. Please register by 9 July at 12:00 pm by sending an email to [email protected].
