The Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) filed a criminal complaint on June 18th, 2013 with the Republic of Serbia for the alleged commission of a war crime against the civilian population of Vučitrn/Vushtrri in late April and early May 1999.
The complaint was filed against two identified and two unidentified officers in the Republic of Serbia Ministry of Interior on the grounds of the reasonable suspicion that they killed nine Albanian civilian men in the presence of their families, in three separate incidents which occurred in late April and early May 1999 in the town of Vučitrn/Vushtrri and in its vicinity.
Members of Serb forces killed 403 Albanian civilians (including 58 women and 10 juveniles) in the period from March 24th until June 10th, 1999, in the Municipality of Vučitrn/Vushtrri, 12 of whom are still considered missing. Not even one single immediate perpetrator of these murders nor any of their superiors have been brought to justice to date.
