Operation ‘Flash’ (‘Bljesak’) was a military and police operation conducted by Croatian forces at the beginning of May 1995 with the aim of returning the area of Western Slavonia under Croatian government control and integrating it into the constitutional and legal order of the Republic of Croatia. The operation resulted in the ethnic cleansing of Western Slavonia, leaving only about 1,000 Serbs out of the original 13,000 who lived there before May 1, 1995.
