Students of the Geneva International Academy of Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Visit HLC

studentiSaturday, April 9th, 2016 – Thirty students attending a Master Programme at the Geneva International Academy of Humanitarian Law and Human Rights visited the Humanitarian Law Center as part of their study trip to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Executive Director Sandra Orlović spoke about the history of the Organization, and presented its work documenting human rights violations committed during the wars in the former Yugoslaiva, and its engagement in the field of criminal justice and reparation for victims.

Among other things, the students expressed their interest in the specific research methods used by the HLC in researching human rights violations, the protection of victims during war crimes trials, the position of the society in Serbia in relation to the legacy of the past and the presentation of events from the 1990s in history textbooks in Serbia and throughout the region.
